I believe my greatest achievement occurred last night when I served my dad a black bean burger ... and he ate it. My dad. The man who would eat cow at every meal if given the opportunity. Yeah, him. He ate a black bean burger. With mild protest, sure, but he ate it so I am chalking it up in the win column.
If you haven't tried a meatless burger yet, try these and let me know what you think. Scroll down towards the end of the page for the black bean burger recipe.
Have a great weekend!

hmmmm, go Butch! I have to say, I am not a fan of veggie burgers, but if, like Butch, you made it and put in front of me, I would try it. Maybe I will pull up a picture of you on my computer, pretend you are there cooking it for me and then make it and eat it..... ;-)
ReplyDeleteeric doesn't like true veggie burgers but he likes the black bean burger b/c it has good spices and flavors. we add cumin and some other goodies to give it more flavor but it's mostly just black beans. if you can get over the consistency which is obviously not like a burger you might be okay with these? maybe.
ReplyDeleteAvocado on them makes them even more delish!!!! I love a good juicy hamburger but I like the black bean burgers just the same. I've never actually had an all veggie burger...what are those made of?
ReplyDeleteerin, i love me some black bean burgers and i'm excited to try yours. i currently make a recipe from a cookbook of mine, but there are a lot of ingredients in that one. i will make yours and compare! (they just happen to be on my weekly menu this week!)
ReplyDeleteHey Erin,
ReplyDeleteMade them the other night and loved them! I was able to make them in the afternoon, then stick them in the fridge for a couple hours, so I had no problem with them falling apart while cooking. (But, if you don't have the time to chill them, vital wheat gluten will hold those suckers together.) They were easier than my recipe because they have about half the ingredients. (I also threw in some fresh cilantro, which was yummy.) As suggested, I also added an avocado/tomato spread and that was delish! Thanks again!
I love these black bean burgers too! I broil them and they don't fall apart - quick and easy too!
